The Best of Fashion Week Makeup:
Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2010 RTW
Lead makeup artist James Kaliardos created "iridescent smoky eyes inspired by butterfly metamorphosis and peacock colors."

This look immediately caught my eye; it is the perfect sexy makeup for a night out in the city. The look is simple; use a black cream liner as an eye shadow and blend it into the lid working your way up to the brow bones. The black cream liner was applied on the lower lash line and winged out 80’s style on the outer corner. MAC Pro pigment in Steel Blue was applied to the lower lash line and a cobalt blue was applied to the inner corners of the upper lids. For that amazing sparkle, MAC Pro 3D glitter was applied on the inner corner of the eyes. Last, a few coats of mascara, and your ready for a night out!
Let me know what you think of the look!
Love,
Jess

R.I.P Lee (Alexander) McQueen

British designer Lee (Alexander) McQueen was found dead at his home after committing suicide this thursday morning. We are SO SO SO SO devastated. No words can even describe what the fashion world has lost today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friend. Long live McQueen.

OCC airbrush System; Obsessive Compulsice Cosmetics
I bought the OCC Airbrush Makeup Starter System over a month now and I must say I AM IN LOVE. If there is anyone out there that is having doubts on weather to invest or not, stop your doubting. It is AMAZING! It gives you a flawless finish that lasts all day; it doesn’t “wear” like a foundation does. It feels like you have nothing on your skin, and you use ¼ the product.

It comes with 12 different colored foundations that are .25oz so you can figure out what color you are. It also comes with 12 .25oz blushes and highlighter that should last you a very long time since only a few drops are needed. You finally get the OCC skin primer that is 1oz and 6 primary skin adjusters that are again .25oz’s. I also ordered another foundation that is my color in the 1oz. It does take practice to get it right, but once you do you will be amazed at how flawless your skin will look!

(ordered seperate)
Jess' Airbrushing Tips
-Unlike traditional foundation, you conceal first as to not disturb the airbrushing effect afterwards
-Keep the airbrush moving in circular motions constantly.
-Shake all airbrush products A LOT before using.
-Set PSI (air pressure) between 12-15 for your foundation, start lower to get a feel for what you personally prefer.
-To check the PSI, press the trigger without pulling back and hold it up to your face to see if it feels too strong against your face.
-Add about 8-12 drops of foundation for full face and neck.
-Hold gun 6-10 inches away from face. For problematic areas, try 4 inches for a bit more coverage in a certain spot.
-Lower PSI to for contour, highlight, and blush.
-For contour use 3-4 drops of a foundation 2 shades darker than your skin
-For the blush and highlight 2-3 drops of product should be sufficient.
If you have any questions or thoughts leave them in the comments!
Love,
Jess

Latest Favorite Piece: Headband
Nothing thrills me more than buying something that is one of a kind. I love the feeling of having a truly unique piece (especially when someone asks you where you bought it; HA-you can’t buy one just like mine!) I was perusing around a website called etsy.com, it’s a website that you can buy and sell all things handmade (it has an especially vintage feel, which I LOVE) when I encountered a piece that caught my eye from a vendor named “TheSparklingCocktail” like none other. This headband, I just feel in love.

I feel it is important to add what I refer to as “pieces” to your collection. They are things that are either an investment of a piece that you truly love, something unique that will change a look and give the person an instant sense of style. This veil was a bit much, even for me, so I cut it down a bit. This is such a weird picture but you can see the headband the best! (And you finally get to see me!)

Just look for things to make your collection unique and don’t be afraid to rock something like this! A few other vendors that have amazing pieces are “itsthelittlethingsut” and “EmeraldDiamond” Someone once told me that their favorite thing about me was my absolute lack of caring for public opinion (Adrian, actually.) So wear what you want and rock it, don’t be one of those “I can’t pull if off” people. You can pull if off, just don’t be afraid to!

Love,
Jess

Jason Wu Spring 2010 RTW

Jason Wu is a Manhattan-based, 26 year old fashion designer, who in the past few years had stolen the hearts of the fashion world with his brilliant designs. When I first saw his Spring RTW 2010 show, there was no doubt in my mind, he is here to stay. His latest collection is playful and quirky, taking contemporary American style to a new level using luxe fabrics. What really set Wu apart from his fellow designers are his amazing party dresses-they are GOURGOUS.

Just looking at them makes you want to get dressed up and go out in town for a night with no rules. He loves a one shoulder dress and playing with color, texture, sculpture, feathers-nothing was against the rules; it all looked fabulous.

. As for the makeup, freelance makeup artist Lucia Peroni used a very sutle sparkle to the eye using Crushed Metal Pigments from MAC that are new for Spring 2010. As for those sexy dark lips, she used MAC Dame and Cyber lipstick and a mix of Burgundy and Media lip Mix.

What do you think of the collection? Any favorite pieces? Let me know!
Love,
Jess

Red Lips

Oh I have missed this blog, just as we were getting started, my labtop broke! Cheers for good luck! So about a little obsession of mine! Red lips; the universal symbol of beauty. Throughout history, red lips has been a never fading trend, an unrepeatable classic. Ancient Egyptians used to paint their lips red as did the Geisha’s in Japan. Guerlain introduced the first wax based lipstick in a refillable tube in 1870, introducing lipstick as we know it into the mainstream. (I am imaginary hugging you right now Guerlain). The first Guerlain bullet lipstick was called Ne M'Oubliez Pas (Don’t Forget Me) and was a true red color.
From flappers, to famous pin-up Betty Page and Hollywood’s most famous blonde, Marilyn Monroe-these women make red lips a staple for your everyday women in the 20’s, 30’s, 40’d and 50’s. In present day, Scarlett Johansen, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, and Gwen Stefani make ladies (and a select few gentlemen) want to rock the red lip. Don’t be afraid to try out a red lip, it’s all about finding the right shade for your skin tone! If your skin has pink undertones, you can opt for a blue-based red lip-a cherry red. If you have olive undertones, go for a true fire-engine red. For yellow undertones, go for a warm red-more tomato red. Need help? Go to your nearest MAC counter to see a color that’s suitable for you. Here is a tutorial from one of my favorite YouTube beauty guru’s, xsparkage.

About Us
We are two best friends who love anything beautiful and unique. We die for fashion, beauty, music, photography, and great movies. We are hopeless romantics, and we are certain that we are hilarious. This quote from Sex and the City describes us better than I can- "When I first moved to NY and I was totally broke, sometimes I would buy Vogue instead of dinner. I just felt it fed me more."
P.S- We always play for keeps ;)
